Your browser is preparing the tool. It runs 100% locally.
Pick a start date and an end date and the tool counts the days between them, then shows the same span in weeks and as approximate months and years. The day count is exact. The months and years use averages (about 30.44 days a month and 365.25 a year), so they are estimates rather than exact calendar figures. The calculation happens in your browser.
This tool measures the gap between two dates. The main figure is the number of whole days, and the same span is also shown as weeks and days, as months and as years, so you can read it whichever way suits you.
Use it to see how long is left until a deadline, how many days a project ran, or how far apart two events are, without counting on a calendar.
The tool takes the two dates and finds the number of whole days between them. It uses the absolute difference, so the order doesn't matter. It then divides the days by seven for weeks, by the average month length for months, and by the average year length for years.
Days are exact because a day is a fixed length. Months and years aren't, so the tool uses averages of about 30.44 days per month and 365.25 days per year, which makes those figures close estimates rather than exact calendar counts.
days = whole days between the two dates (order does not matter)
weeks = days ÷ 7
months ≈ days ÷ 30.44 years ≈ days ÷ 365.2530 days apart → 4 weeks 2 days · about 1.0 month · about 0.08 yearsDays are exact. Months and years use average lengths (30.44 and 365.25 days), so they are estimates, not exact calendar months. For an exact breakdown into years, months and days, use the age calculator.
The number of days is exact, since a day is a fixed length. For a deadline, a notice period or a project length, anything measured in days, the count is precise.
The months and years are approximate because they divide the days by average lengths. A span of 31 days shows as about 1.0 month whichever calendar months it actually crosses, so treat these as close estimates.
It works on dates and ignores the time of day, so the two dates are compared as whole days. For hours and minutes, use a time-duration calculator.
For an exact breakdown into years, months and days that follows the calendar, with its uneven month lengths and leap years, use the age calculator. It counts calendar units directly instead of dividing by averages.

For an exact breakdown into years, months and days, use the age calculator, which follows the calendar. For hours and minutes within a day, use a time-duration calculator. For working days only, a business-day calculator leaves out weekends.
The tool counts whole days between two dates and derives weeks from them. Months and years are averages, so those two figures are approximate rather than exact calendar counts.
